“As a permanent member of the Security Council, it is obviously unthinkable for UN bodies and institutions to work without Russia’s participation,” the official stated when asked by a reporter about whether it is important for his country to remain a member of that organization.
Peskov’s remarks respond to recent statements by White House Spokesman Jen Psaki, who reported that US Ambassador at the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield will seek the suspension of Russia’s participation in the Human Rights Council, by order of President Joe Biden.
In view of this new effort to isolate Russia, Moscow’s permanent representative at the UN, Vasili Nebenzia, said on Monday that Russia considers unthinkable the West’s attempts to expel it from the institutions of the international organization.
In order to justify its new xenophobic proposals, the West accuses Russia of the staged situation in the Ukrainian city of Bucha, to which Peskov assured that these accusations are not only baseless, but also “a well staged tragic show.”
