The Cuban official is in Mexico in the company of the director general of the Division of Consular Affairs and Cuban Residents Abroad, Ernesto Soberon Guzman, and the head of the Department of Identification, Immigration and Foreigners, Colonel Mario Mendez Mayedo.
Before meeting with Mexican authorities on Wednesday, the Cuban delegation met fraternally on Tuesday with some Cuban residents in Mexico and members of the “Jose Marti” Association of Cuban Residents.
At the meeting, the deputy foreign minister thanked the Cuban residents here for their support and that of friends, who have carried out campaigns to donate much-needed medical materials and supplies to fight Covid-19 in Cuba.
Fernandez de Cossio underscored the stance of the Cuban community in Mexico in favor of unity and the defense of the homeland and against the United States blockade and aggressiveness against Cuba.
The Cuban government’s commitment to strengthen and diversify ties between Cuba and Cuban residents abroad was ratified.
The meeting on Wednesday is the fifteenth between Cuban and Mexican delegations since the first such a meeting was held to address migration relations and the agreements in force.
