On his Twitter account, the foreign minister cited data from the Intergovernmental Pannel on Climate Change, according to which, the richest 10 percent of the world’s population emits between 36 and 45 percent of greenhouse gases.

Rodriguez recalled the thought of the Historic Leader of Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, on this issue. “Fidel warned about this phenomenon as early as 1992: “(…) consumer societies are accountable for the atrocious destruction of the environment,” the Cuban foreign minister tweeted.
