The Court approved the extradition on charges of involvement in a continuing criminal enterprise and narcotics offenses, for which the US justice system is seeking his extradition. With this decision, Iván Duque´s government will decide whether to send the capo to the United States, although the Executive Order may be subject to an appeal for reconsideration by the defendant’s defense.
The Attorney General’s Office said that for acts committed in Colombia, alias Otoniel had 122 arrest warrants and seven security measures for crimes such as homicide, illegal recruitment, conspiracy to commit crimes, kidnapping for ransom, terrorism, illegal possession of weapons and drug trafficking, among others.
He also had six convictions, including two sentences of 40 and 50 years’ imprisonment, for aggravated homicide, homicide in a protected person, forced disappearance, forced displacement and illegal recruitment of minors.
