Including those who arrived at Havana’s José Martí International Airport in the thirteenth operation of this kind in 2022, 891 Cuban citizens have been repatriated from Mexico this year. According to Cuban immigration authorities, 1,506 nationals have been repatriated from Grand Cayman, Bahamas and the United States by air or sea in 35 return operations since January.
The US coast guard returned 570 Cubans in 18 trips, while Grand Cayman repatriated two and Bahamas 43 in two operations each, the source reported.
Likewise, authorities explained that the individuals who arrived on Wednesday did not violate immigration laws, since they left Cuba legally and in Mexico they joined the irregular flow to the United States.
On his Twitter account, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez wrote that since 2007, the United States has refused to facilitate regular and safe emigration for Cubans.
In its eagerness to use our people as a hostage of its hegemonic ambition, the US violates Cubans’ human rights and persists in a destabilizing policy that violates international law, Rodriguez tweeted.
