Russia´s watchdog calls for Google to unblock parliament´s channel
Moscow, Apr 9 (Prensa Latina) Russia´s watchdog Roskomnadzor demanded from Google to unblock the DumaTV channel on YouTube video hosting, according to an official statement on Saturday.

“Roskomnadzor demanded from the American company Google LLC, which owns the Internet service YouTube, immediately restore access to the channel of the State Duma of the Russian Federation DumaTV on the video hosting and explain the reason for the introduction of such restrictions,” Roskomnadzor said in a statement on its official website.

The statement noted that Google’s decision prevents free distribution of the information and free access to it.

According to a YouTube alert, Google blocked DumaTV channel in compliance with the company’s rules “in relation to export restrictions and sanctions” imposed on Russia.

In this regard, the Chairman of the State Dume, Viacheslav Volodin, stated that blocking DumaTV channel proves once again a violation of rights and freedoms of citizens.

Mr. Voloding condemned the White House is forcing computer companies owning social networks to wage a media war on Russia.

“Washington, crossing out all principles of democracy, is doing as much as possible so that only its viewpoint, no other, is present on digital platforms, including YouTube. The United States wants to monopolize media hype. We cannot allow that to happen,” Mr. Voloding stressed.

Russia is currently facing up over 6,300 punitive measures hitting the country´s key sectors of its economy, finance and trade, mostly since the beginning of Moscow’s military operation in Ukraine.
