The referendum for the recall of the president’s mandate, presented by Lopez Obrador himself and endorsed by the Congress of the Republic, began early and in an orderly manner.

In the course of a long day, which will end at six o’clock in the afternoon when all 57,000 ballot boxes distributed throughout the country will close, the Mexicans who manage to vote will respond to a single question approved and corrected by the Electoral Tribunal, as the protests of the ruling party Morena for its modification did not progress.

The question submitted for consultation and appearing on the ballots is: “Do you agree that Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, President of the United Mexican States, should have his mandate revoked due to loss of confidence or that he should continue as President of the Republic until the end of his term?”

Citizens will have only two options to respond: 1) That his mandate be revoked due to loss of confidence. 2) To remain in the Presidency of the Republic.

The first results of the so-called quick count are expected to be known tonight, and they will set the trend.

However, for these results to be binding, whether positive or negative for the President, the equivalent of 40 percent of the current electoral roll will have to go to the polls, that is to say, a little more than 37 million people will have to cast their ballots.
