Local media reported this weekend the occurrence of acts of political intolerance in Chongoroi municipality, in Benguela province, with mutual accusations by the parties involved.

On April 5, the president of the Republic and the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), João Lourenço, pointed out that in recent months, the opposition parties have mobilized some radical youths in the cities to commit acts of vandalism.

“This is the governability program that, unfortunately, our opposition has,” noted the president, who regretted the burning of a local committee of his party in the province of Luanda in early 2022.

On the MPLA initiative, the National Assembly will soon hold a debate on electoral transparency in the country, as it is in the interest of promoting a credible, universal and participatory process, MP Virgilio de Fontes Pereira said.
