According to the program, some of these groups will be Companhia do Latão, from Brazil, with the play “Lugar Nenhum” (Nowhere), written and directed by Sergio de Carvalho and inspired by Anton Chejov’s plays.

Argentinian playwright and director Mauricio Kartun will also participate with “Terrenal. Pequeño misterio acrata”,(Earthly. A Little Anarchist Mystery) which won several prizes for its dramaturgy, staging and performances in Argentina.

Another participant will be Andy Gamboa, from Costa Rica, with “Memoria de Pichon” (Memory of Pichon), a biographical play about the difficult relation between a father and a son due to violence.

The Ecuadorian troupe Contraelviento Teatro will stage “La flor de la Chukirawa” (The Flower of Chukirawa), by Patricio Vallejo, while Peru will be represented by Teatro Animalien, with the monologue “Solo cosas geniales” (Only Great Things), performed by actress Norma Martinez.

After being suspended for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Mayo Teatral Festival will take place face-to-face from May 6 to 15 under the slogan Stage and Challenges, and will be attended by Cuban top theater figures.
