The charter flight that arrived in the early hours of Monday morning is a milestone for several reasons, the representative of the Cuban Ministry of Tourism in Colombia, Mariano Fernandez, told Prensa Latina.
First, because it had been more than 20 years since the Colombian market had operated this kind of flight to Cuba, they were only regular flights, he said.
Secondly, because the destination is very important due to its great dynamism, with first-rate hotels, he pointed out.
This first charter brought a group of holidaymakers organized by several travel agencies and specialized reporters to cover the product.
The program first includes accommodation in one of the hotels in Cayo Las Brujas. In addition, the tourists will visit Santa Clara, the provincial capital, and the heritage town of Remedio, then they will travel to Havana to enjoy several recreational events.
The director of the tour operator that organized the trip, Alex Armstrong, president of Vacaciones WAO and Super Viajes, worked for several years with the Archipelago International hotel chain, Gaviota Tours and Colombian wholesale agencies to make this project a reality, which will be followed by many others, as scheduled.
