Cuba confirms 342 new Covid-19 cases

Havana, Apr 12 (Prensa Latina) Cuba on Tuesday reported 342 new positive cases to the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes Covid-19, so it accumulates 1,097,675 contagions since March 2020.

According to the report from the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap), 6,089 patients remained hospitalized on late Monday, 3,672 of whom are suspected cases, while 50 are under epidemiological surveillance and 2,367 are confirmed Covid-19 cases.

Of the latter, 2,340 have a stable clinical evolution; however, seven are critical and 20 are seriously ill in intensive care wards.

During the day, no patient has died of complications associated with Covid-19 and the death toll remains at 8,519 since 2020, so Cuba’s lethality rate is 0.78 percent, compared to 1.24 worldwide and 1.78 in the Americas.

On Monday, 644 patients were clinically discharged, bringing the total number of people who have recovered from the disease to 1,086,730, which account for 99 percent of all cases, according to the Minsap. In order to fight the epidemiological situation, Cuba has administered 35,540,537 doses of its homegrown Soberana 02, Soberana Plus and Abdala vaccines.
