The NGO warned in a statement that the reserves of wheat flour in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank could run out in three weeks.

Shane Stevenson, Oxfam director for the Occupied Palestinian Territory and Israel, said that dependency on imports and the constraints imposed by Israel’s continuous military occupation, settlers’ violence and the hoarding of lands are worsening the crisis.

The statement stressed that the Palestinian National Authority has to import 95 percent of the wheat consumed in both regions.

Oxfam denounced that in this scenario, Palestinian farmers are attacked by Israeli settlers every day to expel them from their lands.

In the light of this situation, it called on the international community to collaborate with the Palestinian people.

It also urged to take a common economic and diplomatic stance to defy Israel’s restrictive policies and allow Palestinians to invest in local food production and infrastructure.
