Data from the Integrated Vaccine System (SIVA), attached to the CCSS, which is in charge of Costa Rica’s public health, show that since December 24, 2020, when the campaign began, until Monday, the technical teams have administered 10,440,011 doses of Covid-19 vaccines.

Some 4,379,374 were first shots, that is, 84.8 percent of 5,161,023 Costa Ricans, according to the estimates from the CCSS Actuarial Department.

In addition, the technical teams have administered 4,042,081 second shots to 78.3 percent of the population, and 2,018,556 third doses (39.1 percent).

Three weeks ago, the National Commission on Vaccination and Epidemiology stipulated that Costa Ricans older than 12 years of age must be administered three doses (they had to receive two doses before); that is, two basic shots and a booster jab.
