According to the financial institution, total exports until March totaled 2.98 billion dollars, 3.4 percent less than the 3,092.5 billion dollars reported a year ago.

The bank added that foreign sales represented 71.6 percent of the total, reaching 2,139.6 billion dollars, 6.5 percent lower than the accumulated value until March 2021.

Re-exports, on the other hand, accounted for 24.6 percent of the total, and registered a value of 734.2 million dollars, with a 21.9-percent increase.

The report noted that the reduction in exports is mainly explained by lower shipments of soy, corn and electric energy.

Meanwhile, up to the third month of the year, total imports reached 3,438.4 billion dollars, 27.2 percent more than in the same period last year.

Imports accounted for 95.9 percent of the total, reaching a value of 3.298 billion dollars, 28.3 percent higher with respect to the value reported in March 2021.
