In this regard, Granma daily reported Marrero’s words during a tour of that tourist center in the western part of the country.
The prime minister said that the event, slated from May 3 to 7, is a great opportunity to show the benefits and achievements of this sector in the country and reinforce, in turn, the strategic nature of this industry in Cuban economy.
He said that the fair will be the venue to tell the world that the country is alive, enduring and moving forward, despite what its enemies claim.
Marrero insisted on the importance of using the Fair to promote progress in sustainable tourism and showcase the experiences of the product on that front.
He also reiterated the convenience of transforming Varadero, a world-famous destination, where it is necessary to diversify the offer and quality of services, and to extend the opening hours of the extra-hotel network.
During his visit, he learned that only last Friday night, more than 19,000 tourists slept in the facilities of that resort, so he stressed how useful it would be to improve recreation, which is poor, something not good for a place like that.
In this regard, he noted that there should be nightlife, discotheques, outlets and stores with extended opening hours in that resort, so it is necessary to redesign products.
