The main opposition organization, the PP was summoned by President Pedro Sanchez, who asked the new leader of the party, Alberto Núñez, to make a clear statement on this and another case that involves the Community of Madrid.
Both institutions are led by PP politicians, Jose Luis Martinez-Almeida in the mayor’s office, and Isabel Diaz in the Government of the Spanish capital.
Nuñez’s response dodged the issue and retorted with a new pressure on Sanchez to lower taxes. In this regard, the spokeswoman for the federal leadership of Izquierda Unida (IU), Sira Rego, demanded exhaustive explanations to the PP and, very especially, to Mr. Nuñez and Mr. Almeida” for the case investigated by the justice system of the controversial contract of the City Council of Madrid to buy health material at the height of the pandemic”.
Rego warned that the lack of explanations from Nuñez, and the lies and victimization displayed by the mayor of Madrid, since this matter became known, now in the hands of a court, is what the PP has accustomed us to in the face of the countless cases of corruption in which it has been immersed for years.
The sanitary masks in Spain, which will soon cease to be mandatory, remain in the spotlight of judicial attention and point to corrupt practices.
Although Martinez-Almeida was quick to disassociate himself from a plot in which two well-known businessmen allegedly seized six million euros, according to IU he has steadily lied in the investigations.
