Mexico’s relationship with U.S. entities are based on sovereignty

Mexico City, Apr 21 (Prensa Latina) Mexico's cooperation with international organizations such as the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is carried out on the basis of respect for sovereignty, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador reiterated today.

In his morning press conference at the National Palace, the president was questioned about the dismantling of the Special Investigations Unit led by the DEA, and clarified that this happened more than a year ago when these agents entered and left the country as if they were in charge and even fabricated crimes.

Now there is a relationship of cooperation but with respect, but the opposition campaigns and complains that we canceled a group that, according to them, was dedicated to confront violence, as if we on our own were not doing anything or were accomplices.

They also forget that this happened more than a year ago because that criminal group was infiltrated, and one of its leaders is being tried in the United States for links with organized crime, but they do not say that and attack us.

Nor do they say that the relationship with Washington is good, but with respect, and it is no longer the time of former President Felipe Calderon (2006-2012) when they even brought in weapons, according to them, with sensors in order to discover the criminals, who used them to commit more murders because the government was infiltrated by them.

He affirmed this type of joint actions with the Mexican government are no longer possible, no more set-ups and other illicit things that Calderon used to do with this supposedly very high level group.
