Local authorities reported that the firefighters worked throughout the night. Thanks to the coordinated action of the firefighters, the spread of the fire to neighboring buildings and homes was prevented.

Six people died and another 24 were injured in the fire according to the latest recount, the TASS news agency reported.

13 victims were hospitalized, while some others are receiving outpatient treatment, the Tver administration said.

The fire that occurred yesterday spread to an area of 2,500 square meters; the roof of the building partially collapsed.

According to the report of the Emergency services, the extinction was made difficult by the old roofs of the building, the high temperature and the intense smoke.

According to the preliminary report, the fire was caused by a fault in the electrical system and the fire spread further to a wide area owing to a late call to the firefighters. The Military Prosecutor’s Office is conducting an investigation into the incident.
