Shanghai tightens fight against Covid-19

Shanghai tightens fight against Covid-19

Beijing, Apr 22 (Prensa Latina) Shanghai on Friday has implemented stricter measures to curb the wave of Covid-19, which keeps it as the most affected region in China, and reported 11 deaths and 17,629 contagions in the last few hours.

The metropolis intends to eradicate the transmission of the Omicron variant of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes Covid-19, with more restrictions on the movement and agglomeration of residents in the municipalities, an increase in the PCR and antigen tests, and large-scale epidemiological investigations.

It will also carry out traditional Chinese medicine interventions, cleaning and disinfection in all its districts.

The authorities will proceed with these measures because the Covid-19 infection rate remains very high, although there has been a gradual decrease in the number of new patients in recent days.

In general, China has so far accumulated 14,742 deaths and 549,764 Covid-19 cases in its mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan since the disease was detected in December 2019.

A total of 249,507 asymptomatic patients are under medical surveillance.
