Cuba thanks Uruguayan solidarity on day against blockade

Cuba, bloqueo
Montevideo, Apr 24 (Prensa Latina) Cuban ambassador to Uruguay, Zulan Popa, today delivered a letter of thanks to the solidarity movement here for the 500,000 syringes collected and sent to Cuba to face the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment expressed it in a letter addressed to the Anti-Imperialist Committee of solidarity with Cuba and the peoples of the world, in charge of that popular support campaign, in 2021.

Upon receiving it, its member Rubén Benítez reiterated that permanent disposition during a mobilization against the blockade on Cuba in the Ernesto Che Guevara Free Space, located on the hill of the populous El Cerro neighborhood, in Montevideo.

Vladimir Arias, on behalf of the Association of Cuban Residents in Uruguay that called for the day to repudiate the hostile policy of the United States, emphasized the suffering caused to his compatriots for more than six decades.

He also condemned the aggression against his country, and his people who, he said, strive so hard for social and scientific development and to contribute to others in need in the world.

In words of gratitude, Popa praised the best solidarity traditions of Uruguayans, the historical legacy of the hero José Gervasio Artigas, and the contribution of personalities such as Juan Carlos Onetti and Eduardo Galiano.
