To win the elections, the left needs to broaden its alliances in search of the votes of the voters of the center, Sócrates said in an interview granted to TV 247.
And this, in the opinion of the technical engineer by profession, is what the founder of the Workers’ Party (PT) is doing.
“I think Lula is leading the next battle very well, and not only very well, but with a responsibility and a political maturity that is lacking in many regions of the world, as for example in France,” he pointed out.
For Sócrates, the former labor leader faces this fight “as it should be carried out, first of all, realizing that it is a battle against the extreme right”.
He said that the crusade is important, “which makes the issue of democracy, plurality and politics without violence its main priority”.
The former Prime Minister (2005-2011) said he thought he knew a lot about Brazil, “but I only started to know it from 2015, when I could see the violence that the right wing was able to use against President Dilma (Rousseff), against Lula”, he said.
