India doubled the Covid-19 cases in the last week

New Delhi, Apr 25 (Prensa Latina) India doubled the Covid-19 cases in the last week reporting 15,700 new people infected by the pandemic between April 18 and 24, it was informed.

This means an increase of the 95% compared to the previous seven days, when 8,050 new cases were reported, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.

Today, India registered 2,.541 new Covid-19 cases and 30 deaths as a consequence of the contagious disease, according to official data.

India´s number of cases since January, 2020 amounts to 43,060,086 infected individuals and 522,223 deaths due to the pandemic.

Current Covid-19 patients amounted to 16,522 while 42,521,341 people have already overcome the disease, according to government statistics.

In the face of the increase in the number of cases in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair next Wednesday a videoconference meeting with the authorities of the different states and territories of the country to assess the national situation.

So far, in India, more than 1,877 billion doses of the Covid-19 vaccines have been administered and 835 million lab samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, the cause of the pandemic.
