Only in the area of Kreinik, West Darfur, the number of dead from the violence reached 98, according to the balance released by the spokesman of the General Coordination for Refugees and Displaced People, Adam Regal.

Violence in Darfur is booming in the face of the inability to contain it by the Sovereign Transitional Council, the military junta that has ruled Sudan since the defenestration of President Omar al-Bashir in 2019 and the self-coup last October that ended the civilian transitional government of former Prime Minister Abdallah Hamduk.

The most recent explosion of violence began last Thursday with the death of two people at the hands of unknown assailants.

This Sunday morning the contenders used heavy weapons in fighting that resulted in the destruction of homes and property, looting and an influx of displaced people of a magnitude yet to be quantified, according to the informant’s account.
