Cuban president highlights work of Nave Oficio de Isla artistic group

Havana, Apr 26 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel highlighted the work done by the Nave Oficio de Isla Creative Community, after watching their most recent production called Luz (Light).

Yesterday we invited the members of the Central Committee of the Party to see “Luz”, by Osvaldo Doimeadios (…). Dazzling staging. Our political work is enriched by the spirituality of Art, the president wrote on his Twitter account.

This way, the head of State acknowledged the work of the group that combines theater, music, poetry, dance, knowledge and history in its presentations, at its headquarters in the Old Warehouses of the San Jose Depository, in Old Havana.

Inspired by a text by Cuban poet Sigfredo Ariel, the play enchants audiences with its unique way of connecting with their physical and spiritual experiences and providing a luminous halo in spite of the difficult circumstances that human beings are going through all over the world.

According to critics, the show revisits the inheritance of the musical, cabaret and theatrical tradition and its profound poetics is visible in the interpretations of the artists who make theater an act of faith.

The dramatic work, forged of conflicts and sentiments, won the 2021 Villanueva Criticism Award granted by the Section of Criticism and Research on Performing Arts of the Association of Performing Artists of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC).
