Organized by the Cuban Workers’ Federation (CTC), this event will enhance the brotherhood between the two countries, in addition to promoting the practice of the (badly named) sport of the “soft ball.”
The Ciudad Deportiva (Sports City) will host a team from the Mexico in the health care sector, while the locals will have two teams: Inder (Cuban Sports Institute) and Etecsa (Ministry of Communications, Informatics and Electronics).
A fundamental role in the program is played by the Pan American Confederation of Workers’ Sports, which is promoting the event hand in hand with the CTC, in a multipurpose space whose square meters house important national and foreign competitions.
Therefore, both organizations reaffirm their interest in strengthening their history of collaboration, and rescue a competition that is part of the day for the International Workers’ Day, celebrated worldwide on Sunday, May 1.
Moreover, the CTC returns to the softball arena in style, after developing an endless number of competitions in each Cuban province, especially for the Lazaro Peña Tournament, which gathers hundreds of unions from Cuba.
The Juan Ealo stadium, also known as “el beisbolito”, has the official dimensions of softball, with 250 feet (76.2 meters) from home plate to the fences along the left, center and right fields.
