The Embassy of the Russian Federation in Havana and the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (Inder) are working on this action that will commemorate the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany to the Soviet delegation in Berlin on May 9, 1945.
At a press conference, the counselor of the Russian Embassy, Sergey Oboznov, made an invitation to this event, which he considered an “act of gratitude, historic memory and solidarity.”
The start of the race will be at 10:00 a.m. (local time) and everyone, including children, the elderly and people with disabilities, can participate, the second head of the National Commission of Races and Walks, Marabana/Maracuba, Juan Carlos Mesa affirmed.
The Inder expert said that the four-kilometer route will be circular, with the start and finish line in front of the Russian Embassy in Havana, on Fifth Avenue, between 62 and 66 streets, in Miramar, in Playa municipality.
Those interested in participating in the Friendship Race can register on Saturday, May 7, at 8:00 a.m., at the Russian Embassy.
