When reading this decree of the Council of State, the diplomat highlighted Hong Ha’s contributions to the friendship and the deepening of cooperation between both countries when he served as co-chair of the binational Intergovernmental Commission from 2016 to 2021.
The proposal to grant the medal to this official came from Cuba’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment on the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between both nations in December 2020.
However, the Covid-19 pandemic forced the award ceremony to be postponed and will be held Thursday at the Cuban embassy here.
When thanking President Diaz-Canel and the people of Cuba for this gesture, Hong Ha said that he received the medal on behalf of the Ministry of Construction and the legion of Vietnamese who cultivate the traditional and indestructible friendship sown by the historic leaders of both countries, Ho Chi Minh and Fidel Castro.
I have the firm conviction that the Cuban Revolution will overcome all the challenges and difficulties despite US hostility and sanctions and will move forward with its model of economic development under the guidelines of its leaders, he said.
