The director of Trade and Sustainable Development of the ACS, Safiya Horne-Bique, told Prensa Latina that the island is an important place for the leisure industry and highlighted that FITCuba 2022 gave space and relevance to the issue of sustainability of this activity.
The fair is one of the first events in which the Association is participating after the worst period of the scourge of the Covid-19 pandemic, she said, and highlighted the presence of the secretary general of that organization, Rodolfo Sabonge, who was one of the speakers of the forum prior to the inauguration.
She added that for the secretary general, this was an excellent opportunity to achieve the commitment of travel agencies, tour operators and other actors with the principles of sustainable tourism, as well as to show the projects and actions that we are developing with that purpose and with a view to recovery.
The ACS is precisely working on an initiative to revitalize and recover the region, so that countries can strengthen resilience against extreme and recurrent events such as epidemics, with actions that last over time, Horne-Bique explained.
Therefore, they offer a consolidated guide to best practices, seminars, a passenger facilitation mechanism and technological solutions for contact tracing, she said.
