Mawlawi confirmed that all preparations are complete for the voting of the Lebanese diaspora to take place from Friday to Sunday, as a prelude to the elections in the country on the 15th.
The Minister confirmed to the Al-Hurra television channel that the security forces are ready to play their role in preserving citizen tranquility during the voting days, and reiterated the assurance of the budget and the availability of electricity for the operation of the registration committees and the electoral tables.
A total of 718 candidates on 103 electoral lists will compete for 128 seats, in a legislature divided equally between Christians and Muslims.
According to the Ministry of the Interior and Municipalities, the number of applicants decreased from the 1,043 registered at the beginning to 718, after the withdrawal of 42 and the failure of 283 for not achieving alliances.
In this number of contenders appear 118 women, seven more than those presented four years ago.
