“This year Venezuela will participate for the first time. It is expected that the march will also be held in Argentina, Belarus, Bulgaria, Jordan, Spain, Kyrgyzstan, Nicaragua and Serbia, among other countries,” Alexei Zaitsev, deputy spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, told reporters.
The official stressed that within the framework of the celebrations of the 77th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet Union over Nazi Germany, commemorative events will be held in almost 130 nations and stressed that the organizers of these events are Russian compatriots.
“Today, as never before, it is important to preserve the memory of the feat of the Soviet people in the struggle against Nazism,” said Zaitsev, while regretting that there are countries that try to hinder those who want to honor the memory of the heroes of the European heroic deed.
According to the information released by the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Immortal Regiment event will also take place in Ecuador, Chile, Bolivia, Cuba, Panama and Peru.
By historical tradition during the Immortal Regiment march, which is usually held in different cities of the Eurasian nation and abroad, the participants carry the portraits of their loved ones who lost their lives in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945).
