Blood donations increase in Cuba after Saratoga Hotel explosion

Havana, May 7 (Prensa Latina) Blood donations in Cuba increased on Saturday as a demonstration of an altruistic gesture with the victims of the explosion at the Saratoga Hotel, where 26 people were killed and more than 60 were injured, according to the lastest report.

On its Twitter account, the Information Technology and Advanced Telematic Services Company (Citmatel) showed how its workers went to healthcare institutions in order to give their support, and stressed that this united country will succeed.

“We are at the Provincial Blood Bank, where compatriots extend their arm of solidarity in the face of the painful event at the #HotelSaratoga,” the general coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), Gerardo Hernandez, wrote on his Facebook profile.

Hernandez, who is also a Hero of the Republic and a lawmaker at the National People’s Power Assembly (parliament), noted that more than 1,500 blood donations had been given at 8:00 p.m., local time, on Friday.

Members of the University Students Federation (FEU), the Young Communist League (UJC), staff from the Foreign Ministry, BioCubaFarma, representatives of Havana’s baseball team (Industrials) and volunteers arrived at blood banks in the Cuban capital.
