Cuba: 26 deaths due to accident at Saratoga Hotel

Havana, May 7 (Prensa Latina) Cuban authorities on Saturday maintain at 26 the death toll from the explosion at the Saratoga Hotel in Havana, and made public the names of the dead in the accident on Friday.

Most bodies found so far belong to people from Havana, while four are from the eastern province of Holguín and one is from Matanzas, in the West.

At a meeting of the government’s temporary working group, President Miguel Diaz-Canel determined among the priorities the protection of the personal means of individuals, whose homes were impacted by the partial collapse of the hotel.

Similarly, he instructed to make an assessment of the damage to the facility and the surrounding areas, as well as the cars that were circulating at the time and were destroyed.

The head of State also called for the incorporation of students from the Concepcion Arenal school, close to the Saratoga Hotel, and which underwent damage from the explosion, into local educational facilities next Monday.
