Vietnam’s top leaders express their grief to Cuba

Hanoi, May 8 (Prensa Latina) The Vietnamese Fatherland Front on Sunday expressed its grief to the Cuban people and the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) for the unfortunate accident occurred at the Saratoga Hotel in Havana on Friday.

Do Van Chien, president of the largest mass organization of this country, sent Gerardo Hernandez, national coordinator of the CDR, a message of solidarity to the Cubans and, especially, the families of the victims of the painful event.

We are convinced that under the leadership of the Communist Party, the proven resilience of the people, and the traditional solidarity of its people, Cuba will overcome this difficult moment, the letter states.

On Saturday, Vietnam’s top leaders sent messages of condolences to their counterparts and the Cuban people.

In a joint letter, Communist Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed their sadness for the accident to First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President Miguel Diaz-Canel.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son did the same in letters to their Cuban counterparts Manuel Marrero, Esteban Lazo, Bruno Rodriguez, respectively.

The latest report about the Saratoga accident, which occurred when a tanker truck laden with liquefied gas was serving the hotel, reports on 27 dead and 81 injured.
