On his account on Twitter, the president expressed that the academic institution makes valuable innovations and contributions to Cuba’s development, such as the establishment of the Matanzas Scientific and Technological Park.
Also on Twitter, the National People’s Power Assembly published the words of affection that its president, Esteban Lazo, sent to his former alma mater.
Lazo pointed out that the University of Matanzas is a work of the Revolution, which allowed people to access to higher education, “in the face of the sad reality of the Neocolonial Republic, when there were only three such institutions before 1959,” he claimed.
Today, it is consolidated with several faculties, study centers, among other science and innovation institutions, he pointed out.
The Technological Science Park in Matanzas is intended to establish and develop knowledge-based companies that operate in an environment linked to research and technology centers, according to the website of that institutions.
