The tribute is hosted by the Cuban Embassy in Beijing and has included representatives of Latin American and Caribbean nations.

Similar action is being carried out by other Cuban legations in different parts of the world and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Havana, after the news of his death on April 30, at the age of 84, was announced.

Ricardo Alarcon (1937-2022) was a prominent jurist, served as Cuba’s foreign minister during 1992 and 1993, and set guidelines in the development of the island’s foreign policy.

For 20 years, he presided over the Cuban National Assembly of People’s Power (Parliament) and was also recognized for his constant fight in favor of the return of the five Cuban anti-terrorists who were held in US prisons.
