Pope Francis’ visit to Lebanon postponed due to health issues

Beirut, May 10 (Prensa Latina) The visit of Pope Francis to Lebanon scheduled for next June was postponed due to health issues, the National News Agency confirmed.

The director of the Holy See Press Office, Matteo Bruni, corroborated the information by informing accredited journalists of the postponement of the trip to the nation of the cedars for the aforementioned reasons.

Francis’ visit was scheduled for June 12 and 13 and would be the first to the Middle Eastern country after that of Pope Benedict XVI in 2012.

Since May 5, Pope Francis, 85 years old, has been in a wheelchair due to severe pain in his knee.

Last March, the Supreme Pontiff received Lebanese President Michel Aoun at the Vatican, in the context of 75 years of diplomatic relations.
