With their faces uncovered, the female demonstrators expressed their discontent with the mandate issued by Taliban’s Supreme Leader Hibatullah Akhundzada last weekend.

Taliban fighters stopped the march after a brief procession, according to press reports.

The decree also orders the dismissal of female employees who do not comply with the new dress code, as well as their husbands and fathers.

In March, the Afghan Government closed girls’ schools for grades seven through 12, which sparked strong national and international condemnation.
