Brussels has no proposals on how to cope with an impact, similar to an atomic bomb attack, on the Hungarian economy in case of a possible blockade on Russian oil,” Szijjarto said in a video posted on the social network Facebook.

His words follow a meeting this week between Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, as well as a telephone conversation between the head of government and French President Emmanuel Macron, the country currently leading the EU.

After those dialogues it became clear that Brussels and the regional mechanism have no proposals on the issue, Szijarto said, adding that his country will insist that Russian oil pipeline supplies be excluded from the embargo.

Last week the EU Permanent Representatives Committee failed to unanimously agree on the sixth package of economic sanctions against the Slavic country following the military operation launched by the Kremlin in Ukraine.

Czech Republic, Slovakia and this country spoke against a full embargo on Russian oil and the first two called for a three-year transition period.
