The security of the territory was reinforced with the presence of new police units in the points where the demonstrators are concentrated, such as the area of Cuatro Altos.

Regarding the looting the day before of railroad containers which forced the suspension of operations in the middle of the protest, one of the directors of the Frente Amplio Colonense, Edgardo Vitier, told Telemetro channel that they reject these acts and assured that they distort the purpose of the strike.

For his part, Panama’s Security Minister, Juan Pino, affirmed that yesterday’s confrontations left two agents injured, damage to State property and 19 people arrested.

He also said that through raids they detained the person who allegedly shot an officer who is in serious condition in the capital.

On his side, the governor of Colon, Iracema De Dale, established a curfew from 23:00, local time, last Tuesday until 04:00 hours of this Wednesday.

Yesterday, the National Government issued a communiqué in which it said it was open to dialogue and created a High Level Commission, but the leaders of the Coalition for the Unity of Colon (CUCO), insist that the talks, as in November 2021, take place in the province, where the problems are.
