The publication publishes an article on the matter by local researcher Jose Luis Perello (Norman Girvan Chair of Caribbean Studies at the University of Havana).

The expert points out that the Government of this island granted the concession of Cayo Largo (southwest) to a single hotel chain of Canadian capital.

It is Blue Diamond Resorts which, together with the state-owned Gran Caribe, will be in charge of the exclusive management of all the hotel and extra-hotel facilities in that heavenly destination.

The agreement was signed as part of the 40th International Tourism Fair of Cuba (FITCuba 2022), held from May 3 to 7 in Varadero (Matanzas), Cuba’s main beach.

The director of communications of Blue Diamond Resorts, Miguel Garcia, said that for the group it will be a far-reaching project and a unique experience, since it refers to the almost integral management of a tourist destination with all its facilities.

The executive explained that his company has several brands in Cuban territory, such as Memories, Royalton and Starfish, with which it expects to rebirth and insert Cayo Largo del Sur in the international tourism market.

Blue Diamond Resorts appeared in 2011 and owns 45 properties that exceed 15,500 rooms distributed in 10 countries. It specializes in high quality vacation experiences in tropical beachfront areas in the Caribbean and Mexico.
