In a brief message published on the Ministry’s website, Portal highlighted the importance of their role in the communities and facilities of the sector.

“Nurses play an essential role in building resilient healthcare systems,” he said.

“Around the world, not to mention other healthcare services, they were on the front lines of the battle against Covid-19 and have been the soul of vaccination to prevent this and other diseases,” Portal noted.

May 12, the date on which homage is paid to Florence Nightingale, the mother of modern nursing, marks the enormous contribution of nurses, who in Cuba stand out as an example of altruism, dedication and professionalism.
