At the Convention Center in Havana, during a working day prior to the fifth extraordinary meeting of the National Assembly of People’s Power (parliament), the minister of Domestic Trade, Betsy Diaz, acknowledged that the necessary transformation in the provision of services to the population has not been achieved.

The deputies questioned the fact that, despite the provisions adopted, problems persist with the variety, quality and stability of the offers, both in gastronomic units and in other establishments, as well as high price.

In this regard, they announced that in June the ministry must present to the Executive Committee of the Council of Ministers an update of the wholesale trade policy.

As part of the improvement, in addition, wholesalers were created in all the country’s territories and the first mixed company of the branch, Gran Ferretero S.A., was approved for the wholesale sale of hardware items and construction materials, allocated for the economic actors that compete in the domestic market.

The report presented to the commission exposed delays in the execution of the improvement schedule, with its 48 actions, particularly in matters such as the creation of base business units, the application of labor availability processes and the consolidation of collections and payments through electronic channels.
