During this stage, the political forces are forbidden to carry out campaigns, public meetings and presentations in the media until the elections day concludes.

The main contenders are the Free Patriotic Movement, Lebanese Forces, Hizbulah (Party of God), Amal and Progressive Socialist Party. On the campaign last day, they used Friday to defend their projects and call on the nearly four million registered Lebanese voters to go to the polls.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants communicated the arrival to the national territory of the 598 ballot boxes from the suffrage of the Diaspora in 58 countries.

The custody and protection of the votes will be transferred to the Interior and Municipalities Ministry, which in turn will distribute them to the registration commissions tomorrow to classify them and announce the final results of the elections, the Foreign Ministry added in its Twitter account.

Since early this Saturday, the distribution of the ballot boxes to the chiefs of polling stations and their assistants in the schools began with the presence of Internal Security Forces, local media reported.

According to official sources, for the first time in the history of the elections, more than a third of the electoral budget was allocated as subsidies and the cost of these represents a quarter of what the State spent in the 2018 elections.

A total of 718 candidates on 103 lists are running for 128 seats in a legislature equally divided between Christians and Muslims.
