After completing logistical preparations and basic infrastructure, this fourth crossing in the province of Homs was inaugurated. The decision has contributed to the closure of more than 18 illegal crossings in the area, the director of the Department of Immigration and Passports in Syria, Major General Khaled Hadid, pointed out.
He added that the crossing was completed in a short period and opened following the demands of villagers living along the border, and immediately started receiving passengers and vehicles in both directions.
According to Homs Deputy Governor Elias al-Khoury, the crossing is a new passage that will save time and effort for citizens, and said that it will start serving trucks very soon.
In turn, Lebanon’s Director of General Security, Major General Abbas Ibrahim told the press that the crossing benefits the residents of 25 localities whose inhabitants had to travel more than 40 kilometers to be able to cross the border legally.
