Jean Charles, who presides over the Pitit Dessalines party with a great influence in the north of the country, uttered the need to implement the culture of dialogue, something similar to what happened in Rwanda after the 1994 genocide.

In this regard, he has already met with Edgard Leblanc of the Struggling People’s Organization, with Line Balthazar of the Haitian Tet Kalé Party, Jean Gué of the Konba platform, and the Haitian National Peasant Network, as part of the pilgrimage for forgiveness and reconciliation.

Jean Charles also hopes to meet with Jean Bertrand Aristide, founder of the Lavalas party and one of his historical rivals, whom he recently asked for forgiveness.

Haiti has been experiencing a serious political, economic and social crisis for the last decades, which increased particularly with the assassination in July of President Jovenel Moïse, which reinforced the institutional vacuum.

Despite calls for dialogue from many social actors, the main political forces have not yet reached a national consensus to break the impasse and address crucial problems such as insecurity and the legitimacy of leaders.
