Homage is paid in Costa Rica to prominent Cuban politician

San José, May 16 (Prensa Latina) Former Costa Rican President Luis Guillermo Solís and Vice Foreign Minister Christian Guillermet paid tribute today to prominent Cuban politician and diplomat Ricardo Alarcón, who died on May 1 in Havana at the age of 84.

In a message to the Cuban ambassador to Costa Rica, Jorge Rodríguez, regarding the opening of a book of condolences for the death of Alarcón, former President Solís (2014-2018) points out that “Mercedes (wife and former first lady) and I join in the expressions of mourning at the death of the notable diplomat and politician D. Ricardo Alarcón de Quesada”.

Unable to attend personally to express our respect for the memory of the high-ranking official for being outside the country, we send our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased, the government and the beloved people of Cuba, concludes the message from the former Costa Rican president.

For his part, Deputy Foreign Minister Guillermet went to the Cuban diplomatic headquarters in San José and wrote in the book of condolences “To one of the architects of Cuba’s foreign policy. Distinguished fighter of many struggles for a strong and independent Latin America and promoter of respect for international law”.

Today, he highlighted him, we honor him for a journey where he will find peace and company with other fighters.

“The people of Costa Rica pay tribute to the thinker, diplomat and teacher,” Guillermet stressed.
