Uzbekistan expresses condolences to Cuba for Saratoga Hotel victims

Baku, May 16 (Prensa Latina) Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev offered his condolences to his Cuban counterpart, Miguel Diaz-Canel, due to the explosion that occurred at the Saratoga Hotel in Havana on May 6.

“We are deeply saddened by the news of the tragic deaths of people and those seriously injured as a result of the accident,” stated the letter by the Uzbek leader, sent to Cuban Concurrent Ambassador to that country from Azerbaijan, Carlos Valdes.

“In such difficult and tragic moments for the Government and the people of your country, I express my deepest condolences,” said the head of State, who also asked that his condolences are conveyed to the families and friends of the victims and his wish for the speedy recovery of the injured.

According to the Cuban Ministry of Public Health, 46 people lost their lives as a result of the explosion and 99 were injured, 41 of which have already been discharged from hospitals.
