One of the signatories, the Organization of the People in Struggle (OPL), expressed its reservations about the recent meetings between Magali Comeau Denis, coordinator of the Montana Accord, and Prime Minister Ariel Henry, who held talks to try to find solutions to the systemic crisis.

OPL spokesman Danio Siriac told reporters that Denis acted on her own without the majority’s approval, therefore it could not be considered that he represents the signatories of the agreement.

The spokesman recalled that the signatories of the Montana Accord agreed that all initiatives of talks and political rapprochement must have the approval of the representatives of the platforms gathered in the alliance.

Denis and Henry met for more than five hours on Sunday with the aim of reaching a consensus that would allow the resumption of the talks between these two factions, suspended after the election of an possible transitional Government.

Since 2018, Haiti has been experiencing an acute political crisis, with massive mobilizations against the management of assassinated President Jovenel Moïse, while the parties fail to reach a common proposal.
