India has 3G and 4G telecom networks, and companies are preparing to launch 5G in the coming months, the Press Trust of India news agency reported.
Modi said via video conference during the Silver Jubilee of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India that the 5G network will add $450 billion to the national economy over the next 15 years.
It is not just about increasing the speed of the Internet, but also the pace of development and job creation, the leader noted. He added that 5G technology will bring about a positive change in the country’s governance, ease of living and doing business.
It will also boost the growth of agriculture, healthcare, education, infrastructure and logistics.
According to the prime minister, a working group started working on the deployment of the 6G network.
Teledensity and Internet users are expanding rapidly, and the country is now the world’s largest mobile manufacturing center, he noted.
