Cuban personalities and institutions celebrate Museum Day

Havana, May 18 (Prensa Latina) Cuban personalities and institutions are celebrating the International Museum Day, instituted in 1977 to make visible concerns associated with those spaces and their role as guardians of humanity's heritage.

From its profiles on social networks, the National Council of Houses of Culture said that the theme selected on this occasion values the power of art galleries as scenarios devoted to artistic and educational exchange among peoples and inexhaustible sources of research.

Empresa de Grabaciones y Ediciones Musicales (Egrem) made special mention on this date to the National Museum of Music, housed in an imposing early 20th century mansion and dedicated to the historical development of this manifestation and musical instruments.

The Havana Dance Center, conceived for the confluence of the multiple expressions of identity associated with that corporal poetics, congratulated the professionals in charge of preserving the customs and tangible riches.

The Jose Marti National Library of Cuba recognized how the day is a reason to raise awareness about the relevance of museums, a commemoration aligned with the sustainable development goals of the 2030 Agenda.

For his part, Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero recalled the recent approval of the General Law for the Protection of Cultural Heritage and Natural Heritage and honored “those who in one way or another contribute to the functioning of museums” in Cuba.
